Stump grinding is pretty cheap…typically around $175 for a regular stump. Check out our Pricing page for details. Since we charge by the inch, larger stumps costs more to grind.

Stump removal using a mini excavator costs more since we have to dig the stump up and it is more involved. Removing rootballs or fallen trees and their trunks can range anywhere between $750 through several thousand. Stump removal, as opposed to grinding, takes more time and requires bigger and heavier machinery.

First off, I love being outdoors and working in the sun. I also love destroying obnoxious stumps. It makes me feel good to get rid of old stumps since they are eyesores and tripping hazards. I love the efficiency of stump grinding. Usually we are in and out in 5 to 10 minutes. This is exciting and rewarding. We have an expensive high power machine that literally obliterates stumps into a pile of woodchips. What can be more fun than that?

What do you like the most about stump grinding/removal?

I get a kick out of people’s reactions when I grind a stump. Usually the neighbor will come out with his cell phone and record a video of it. Other times, the whole family will watch. Many people have never seen a stump grinder tear apart a stump. We use safety precautions and have the expertise to make sure the job is done correctly. Even so, stump grinding is a job that never gets old. It is very rewarding to see a horrendous looking stump in someone’s front yard get removed. I think of all the time people look at the ugly stump in their front yard and I realize that in 5 or 10 minutes I was able to get rid of it. Well, its very rewarding for me to think that now that stump is gone and will be replaced with sod. An yard with an eyesore has become a beautiful yard.

I started my stump grinding business because I thought stump grinding was so fun I wanted to do it full time. As you can see on our reviews, not only do we enjoy what we do but we take great pride in our work. I’ve heard from customers that some other stump companies leave wood chips all over the front lawn and don’t even take the time to grind below the ground level.

We make a point to clean up properly and will always have the homeowner check our work before we leave. For some, this means that we walk out together and check out the job. I usually ask customers if there is anything else I can do to make this job perfect. For others who ask us to grind while they are at work, I’ll send them pictures and have them ok the job before we leave. We are committed to high quality work and pleasing you as the customer because after all we wouldn’t be in business without happy customers.

Another thing we focus on is in making sure the landscape and grass is preserved without ruts or damage. We are careful with how we navigate our machine and are careful with sprinklers. If your yard is left improved and beautiful after we grind your stump, you’ll be happy and tell others about us and that is what we want.
